Why a V-neck for custom work
A V-neck does not read as a uniform, which is the reason most people choose it over a crew. For salons, boutiques, restaurants, real estate offices and anywhere the goal is for staff to look put together rather than badged, it is the better call. Designing for the neckline
This is the one thing that separates a good V-neck print from an awkward one.
- Place the design two to three inches below the point of the V, lower than you would on a crew neck. A graphic at standard crew height looks crowded against the opening.
- Round and centered shapes work best. They follow the V rather than fighting it.
- Straight horizontal text near the top edge reads badly, because the eye compares the line to the neckline curve.
- Left chest logos are the safest bet for staff apparel and avoid the issue entirely.
Cuts available
Unisex V-necks run close to a standard crew in the body and suit mixed groups. Women's V-necks have a deeper neckline and a fitted, shorter cut. If you are ordering for a team where everyone picks their own size unseen, unisex is the safer default.
