Why a raglan
A raglan is a white or heather body with contrast sleeves and a contrast neck binding. It gives you a two color garment before you print anything, which means a simple one color design looks finished on it in a way it would not on a plain tee. That is why baseball teams, softball leagues, gymnastics programs and small brands keep coming back to it. The three quarter sleeve also sits in a useful gap: it is warmer than a short sleeve and cooler than a long sleeve, which in Texas covers March, April, October and November.
Designing for a raglan
The sleeve seam runs diagonally from the collar to the underarm, not straight across the shoulder. Anything printed near the shoulder crosses that seam and will not press flat. Keep the chest design within about eleven inches so it stays clear of the raglan seams on smaller sizes. Contrast sleeves limit sleeve printing; a design on a coloured sleeve needs enough contrast against it, and we proof that before printing. Number and name on the back is the classic layout and it uses the flattest area of the garment.
Team orders
Names and numbers carry no per name setup fee, so a roster of fourteen with fourteen different backs costs the same per shirt as fourteen identical ones. We bag and label by name or number so handing them out at practice takes two minutes. Send the roster with spellings and numbers already checked, since we print exactly what is on the list.
