Why the construction matters
The lap shoulder is the detail parents notice. It lets the neckline stretch wide enough to pull the garment down over the shoulders rather than over the face, which anyone who has dressed a newborn will tell you is not a small thing. The snaps sit on a reinforced panel so they do not tear out of the fabric after twenty changes, which is where cheaper blanks fail first.
Printing on a bodysuit
Small garment, small print area, and a few things that catch people out the first time. Keep designs under about six inches wide, and closer to five on newborn and 6 month sizes. Place high on the chest, since a bodysuit's usable area ends where it starts curving toward the snaps. Press at lower pressure, because infant cotton is thin and a heavy press can leave a visible platen edge. Avoid the snaps entirely, since pressing over hardware damages the platen and marks the garment. Use a small platen or a sleeve platen. A full size platen will catch the leg openings and distort the garment.
A note on softness
DTF is the right process here because the print stays flexible against skin. Thick vinyl on an infant garment stiffens the fabric exactly where a baby lies on it. Keep the design area modest for the same reason: a full front print on a 3 month bodysuit is a lot of coverage on a very small shirt.
