A standard unisex tank has a straight body and moderate armholes, which makes it the safe choice for a group order where you do not know everyone's preference. Muscle tanks cut deeper at the arm and suit gym and summer event use. Racerbacks pull the straps toward the center of the back, which changes where a back print can sit. That last point matters more than people expect: a racerback narrows the printable area across the shoulder blades, so a wide back design either needs shrinking or moving to the front.
Fabric
Cotton is soft and takes ink well but holds sweat. Tri-blends drape better and feel lighter. Performance polyester wicks and dries fast, which is why it dominates gym, race and outdoor event orders. DTF prints on all three, so pick for the wearer rather than for the printer.
Print area and placement
Tanks have less surface than a t-shirt. The chest area between the straps is narrower, so a design that fits a tee will often need scaling down. Center chest is standard, and a small left chest mark works well on unisex tanks. Full back is the largest usable area on a standard tank and the smallest on a racerback. Send artwork at 300 DPI with a transparent background at the finished size, or vector for logos. We check every file first and tell you if the scale will not work on the cut you picked.
